Blog #4.3 (due before class on Tuesday)

3. In paragraph 6, Kolata explains why most people find it so difficult to keep weight off. What evidence does she provide to support her claim? Are you convinced by her explanation? Why or why not?

  1. The evidence that she provide to support her opinion is fat gene. I complete agree with her .Because obese people use to eat a lot of food and high fat food ,when they have tried to loose their weight, they will eat healthy food , low fat and low carbohydrate such as vegetable, fish, fruits. This is changing their life style which they not get used to it. Although they lost some weigh, their body need to consume more food and want to get more energy because they have more fat cells that other people . As a result, they still get fat again.

  2. kolata explains scientific evidence to explain it. The evidence is fat gene. In my opinion, I'm convinced and agree with that. When I try to lose weight, I feel hunger everyday. (When I was model and nowadays..;'( That's why it's too hard to lose weight for me...)
Futhermore, most of my friends who try to lose weight said they are hungry.

  3. The evidence that she provides to support her claim is fat gene. I agreed with her evidence because there is a study of twins and of adopted children that show the fat gene can effect the children and make them become fat. As the result, it is really difficult for them to lose weight.

  4. Based on my experience, I agree with Gina Kolata in some points “80 percent of those with two obese birth parents became obese””fat gene”. However, people feel normally hungry at beginning of the diet because the stomach used to eat this amount of food. Studies show that stomach can be extended or shrunk depends on your eating, so with willpower everybody can lose weight without any problem and this is the point that I disagree with her.
