Chris Ochoa stated that he confessed this crime because of his fear of the death penalty and police pressure on him by threatening him with the consequences of not confessing.
Chris Ochoa confessed the rape and murder crime for the pressure which he was subjected. The police persuaded him to confess the crime if he wanted to avoid the death penalty. Also, he explained why he did it to avoid the suffering of his mom. there are some factors that the police used to put pressure on him, such as he spent several hours in the interrogation room and he stressed out for that.

Because the police called his mother and threaten her that if her son, Chris Ochoa, don't confessed about doing the crime, he will die. His mother called him and asked him to confess the crime. He decided to confess the crime because he doesn't want her mother to suffer more especially that she had a stroke from stress. Moreover, he was afraid of the capital punishment.
Ochoa confessed the crime because the police was threatening to kill him through his mother. His mother went to visit him a said that his had to confess because he could die if he did not confess. He took the difficult decision of confessed guilty about the crime.
Even though Mr. Ochoa wasn't involve in the problem, he had to carry with the problem even when the murders were unknown for him. He had the pressure of officers to confess something that he didn't do. They told him that if he didn't confess he would be blame and punished as a murder. As a result, he confessed and had to spend more than 10 years until the police found the real murders.
He was under pressure and the police threaten him by tape. They were recording and stop the tape to tell the obviously. Then they destroyed that tape and they got him by all the wrong facts, which he said. I think they caught him because he is uneducated and he didn't know his rights.

Also during his interrogation he was manipulated to think if he did not confession he will pay this with his life. His testimony showed a big injustice.
