Homework for tonight

Write two test questions from the lecture on the process and history of the scientific method (Leap, ch. 5, lecture 1). You may not write the same questions as someone who posts before you. If your question/s are chosen for the test, you will receive 10 points. Of course we only want GOOD QUESTIONS!

    1. My vehicle is made of iron. Albert’s vehicle is made of iron. Gloria’s vehicle is made of iron too. So, we can say that all vehicles are made of iron. Which kind of method is this idea? Inductive or deductive?

    2. When Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931) invented the light bulb, he did not go to the first, but made over a thousand attempts, to the point that one of the disciples who collaborated with him asked if he was not discouraged with many failures.   8. 1- I saw that my car had a problem in the riding. Firstly, I check out all the wheels and the car position. It looked tilted on the right side. I look carefully at the wheel at the back of the car. I saw that there were a piece of a glass bottle on the wheel. Then, I realized that I saw some bottles near a trash can in neighborhood and some raccoons in three houses later. What is the closest hypothesis that you can define for this scenario? Whats the next step that should do to continue my travel?

    2- For the final grade of the semester, Mrs. Williams ask the students for an considerable long essay and they have to send the essay by email the day before the deadline. Peter had been working hard for few week in order to get the best score possible. After one week of that day, Mrs. Williams gave the grades and almost all the class got very low grades. Peter try to find why was the problem, so he asked everybody in the class about different aspects of the essay about the topics, information or even what app did they use to write the essay. After a deep research, he realized that there were a problem between the app of the computer of the students and the professor, and it app change some details in the essay. After all peter research, what kind of method you think he did to get that conclusion?

      I'm not sure I understand the actual question. Do you mean which kind of reasoning: inductive or deductive? Or do you mean which step in the scientific method?
