Disbelieving means incredulous means that you can't believe something.
I was simply incredulous when I saw the plagiarized essay from my star student. I simply couldn't believe it.
The tone of this paragraph is encouraging. Even though people won't be kind to you, you should be kind anyway. Even though people will cheat you, you should be honest anyway. Even though the world can be dark, be a light anyway. This is encouraging us to do good even when there are barriers in front of us.
